In the mid-1800s the land was cleared for farming and used for pasture and crops until the early 1970s, at which point Cora Munn as the new owner at that time, began a reforestation project that continued for
over the next 38 years.

The Munn Nature Reserve was donated to the Lone Pine Land Trust in May 2011 by the late Cora Munn and family. It was Cora’s vision that this 76-acre Nature Reserve be maintained as a wildlife sanctuary in perpetuity. The Nature Reserve is located along a north/south ridge about 1 km west of Codrington on County Road 27. It is part of the Cramahe Hill Complex earth science region (ANSI 1991) and contains beach sections of pre-historic Lake Iroquois. Here you will find meadow, climax hardwood forest, large cedars and the springs which form the headwaters of Marsh and Salt Creeks.
